Easiest way to update everyone...

Hi everyone!

I think this may be the easiest way to keep everyone in the loop. My dear friend "J" would say "I told you so!" right about now!

Here's the latest...

Most of you already know that I'm on bed rest. I've completed 5 weeks already! I've had some great days and some not so great days, but I guess that's to be expected. You'd think that having permission to sit on your behind and do nothing would be a wonderful thing, but I beg to differ!

Last week at our routine appointment with Dr. M, I was admitted. The problem has been that my cervix is shortening. I won't go into a lot of detail on that except to say that it's not a good thing. The reason I was admitted was because it had shortened below 2 cm. It's pretty standard to stay at that point. Since I was passed 24 weeks gestation, they also wanted to administer steroid shots for the babies lungs, just in case I do deliver early. So I stayed Monday night, Tuesday night and went home early Wednesday morning. They also did a test called the Fetal Fibronectin Test. They hope for a negative, which means the likelyhood of me delivering in the next 2 weeks is less than 4%. NEGATIVE! It was the first time in all of my baby-making experience that I actually prayed for a negative!

Yesterday, May 27th, we had another appointment and everything went as well as we could have hoped! My goal is to stay stable at this length and it worked! There was no change since last week! And once again the babies looked perfect! Our beautiful boy is measuring 2lbs 4 oz, and our gorgeous girl is measuring 1lb 15oz.

My next goal is fast approaching! I was told by my doctor that weeks 24 thru 28 were the danger zones. He wanted to do everything he could to keep me pregnant through this time. Tomorrow I will be 27 weeks ~ so close to the end! Then of course I have small milestones to look forward to.

Speaking of looking forward, Sunday is my shower! I can't wait! It will be so nice to see everyone!
